The best exhaust for the KTM 690 SMC-R or Husqvarna 701

The KTM 690 SMC-R is one of the best out of factory supermotos that is out there. But to improve the performance of this bike and really bring it alive it needs a different exhaust. Most of the exhaust offer extra horsepower and ofcourse give you that really good BRAAP sound!

We’ve tested several exhausts on this bike and will share our opinion on it below.

DVR Exhaust

One of the best looking exhausts for the KTM 690 SMC-R is the full carbon exhaust made by DVR. The silencer comes with a DB killer and all the mounting material. The exhaust is made out of stainless steel and has high quality photos as you can see on the detailed photos. The price of the stainless steel exhaust is €974,95 for the full carbon/stainless steel edition. It’s also possible to get it in titanium for €1475,- if you fancy multiple colors on your exhaust.

DVR will give your KTM 690 SMC-R extra performance without being extremely loud. Ofcourse you can choose to mount it without the decibel killer if you like a little bit of extra braap! The exhaust can be bought on our website!

Pros

  • Great looking (full carbon silincer)
  • Performance
  • Silent (perfect street slayer)

Cons

  • Doesn’t have an emark
  • Header made out of steel
  • Expensive

    Tekmo header with HGS silincer

The Tekmo header is really popular upon the KTM 690 SMC-R riders. But who can argue about that. The titanium colors look really good and the exhaust offers great performance. Tekmo also sells a silencer for the KTM 690 SMC-R, which we haven’t tested. We saw the photos of the silencer and it’s not the best looking one, but knowing the Tekmo products it’s probably high quality.

The HGS silencer isn’t a bolt-on silencer. Ofcourse it looks amazing, but since it’s made for the KTM 500 EXC-F (2017) it needs the customizing. You will have to weld and fabricate your own mounting. Do you want something custom, this might be your option!

    Pros

    • Titanium header
    • Great performance
    • Unique look

    Cons

    • Needs customization
    • Doesn’t have an e-mark

    Leovince LV One Evo

The Leovince LV One Evo is a good looking exhaust for the KTM 690 SMC-R. If you take the full system, when you just put on the silencer the looks aren’t great. The Leovince is also pretty loud, even with the decibel killer mounted.

Luckily the exhaust has an e-mark and is approved for the streets. The full exhaust even comes with a bit of carbon made by Leovince to top of the looks. It’s made out of stainless steel and weighs 4.51 KG in total which isn’t bad for a full system!

    Pros

    • Street legal with e-mark
    • Fairly cheap for a full exhaust
    • Includes carbon on the header

    Cons

    • Pretty loud, even with a DB killer in it
    • Steel header instead of titanium
    • Hits the skidplate when mounted
